WELCOME!

To the Home of the Clarksville Junior Golf Tour

In 1997, Dr. Keith and Sally Peterson had a dream of providing young people from the Clarksville-Fort Campbell area with an affordable opportunity to experience the game of golf.  The Peterson's like many area families, traveled  extensively with their son to play in junior golf  events.  They realized that the travel and expense involved prohibited many young people from learning and loving the game of golf.  They wanted to enable young people from diverse backgrounds to play the game and learn the rules and etiquette of this wonderful and challenging game.  Doc got the "go ahead" with the help of Gene Lednicky, a fellow CGA member, as well as the support from the Clarksville Golf Association.  The Clarksville Junior Golf Tour was born, June 1997.  The Peterson's dream continues today through the smiles and triumphs of our young participants.

A message from Mary Fisher....

This past year we have lost two very special people to CJGT.  AJ Taylor was ‘the big guy” always out on the course, roving back and forth.  He helped our juniors move along as well as helped in interpreting rules for the players when needed.  AJ is sorely missed by all.

Another great person we lost is Horace Moncrief….the voice of “all starters”.  Horace took great pride in welcoming each and every player to the first tee.  He just knew exactly what it took to make kids “feel good” about themselves.  On days of our tournaments, it was obvious that the kid on the tee, was the most important of all.  Once again we appreciate all Horace did for our tour and we so miss seeing that happy, smiling face.

Horace’s wife is Vicki and his two daughters are Melissa and Menta.  The Getson family, in honor of of Horace’s daughter, Menta, and in memory of Horace, gave a substantial donation to CJGT and The Billy Daniel Foundation.  It has been determined that each year, for the next five, money from their gifts will go to partially sponsor each of the four scholarship winners to Golf House Tennessee.  Our first 4 recipients of these scholarships are Ella Averitt, Jai Lynne Whitehead, Noah Goble and Wade Greene.

We thank both of these two fine men for their dedication and hard work for the junior golfers of The Clarksville Junior Golf Tour.
